. .Pond
above the house.
A natural spring coming from the upper portion of the property feeds our
large pond, a tear-drop-shaped feature about 65 ft by 30 ft. This pond
is 7.5 feet in its deepest region, with gently-sloping sides. The spring
stops flowing in August - but the pond dries only partially.
. .As naturalists, we've enjoyed
watching the progression of plants and animals that have taken up residence
in and around the pond. We've had green-wing teals and a common goldeneye
visiting the larger pond this year in the spring. Kingfishers and river
otters occassionally feed there.
. .A small boat can be put
in the pond so that children can paddle about there with adult supervision
(please notify us if you would like this to be available).
. .A second smaller pond is
near the front entrance to the house.
